Practical exposure to automation and digital manufacturing

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), in partnership with Rockwell Automation India, organised the Two-Day Training Programme on Industry 4.0 for manufacturing professionals. Across the 2023 and 2024 editions, the programme combined classroom sessions with technology demonstrations, factory visits and exposure to the Foundation for Smart Manufacturing (FSM) at IIT Delhi. It covered factory automation, predictive maintenance, industrial IoT, cybersecurity and the use of real-time information in manufacturing.
Identify opportunities to use automation to address manufacturing challenges.
Understand approaches to digital transformation in production environments.
Explain the value of real-time information, analytics and coordination with machine builders.
Understand IT-OT integration requirements and industrial cybersecurity considerations.
Relate digital engineering and connected manufacturing technologies to practical use cases.
CXOs, CTOs, CIOs, CEOs
CIOs and CDOs building Industry 4.0 capability.
Operations leaders driving shop-floor transformation.
Engineering and production heads seeking practical AI exposure
Plant and operations managers exploring automation
Common structure compiled from the supplied writeups and schedules. Individual batch agendas and factory sites varied.
Introduction to Rockwell Automation and the programme’s focus on smart, sustainable and digital manufacturing. Establishes the context for the expert sessions, technology demonstrations and site visits. The supplied schedules list an opening session led by Rockwell Automation India leadership.
Live online presentation and virtual walkthrough of Rockwell Automation’s Singapore factory, presented as a Connected Enterprise Showcase. Provides exposure to a working manufacturing environment and connects the classroom discussion of digital transformation with factory practice. Singapore plant and customer-interaction representatives are named in the supplied schedules.
Expert-led discussion of smart, sustainable, digital and data-driven manufacturing. Covers strategies for using automation to address manufacturing challenges and approaches to applying digital transformation in demanding production environments. The writeups identify factory automation, predictive maintenance and related technology solutions as programme learning areas.
Explores industrial IoT and the value of real-time manufacturing information and analytics. Connects these themes with machine-builder coordination and IT-OT integration requirements described in the programme learnings. The August 2023 agenda includes a ThingWorx platform session; the May 2024 writeup also identifies Industrial Information Networks as a technology focus.
Brings together the programme’s predictive-maintenance theme and scheduled discussions of smart assets, lean and secure infrastructure, and industrial cybersecurity. The August 2023 agenda includes sessions on the Fiix platform, the LCS portfolio and cybersecurity services. Experience-centre schedules also identify a Smart Asset Area and cybersecurity exhibits. The depth and presentation of these topics varied by batch.
Visit to Rockwell Automation’s Digital Transformation Experience Centre in Gurgaon. Scheduled exhibits include the Smart Enterprise Experience video wall, digital engineering and a virtual-reality view of a production line. These demonstrations provide practical exposure to the digital technologies discussed in the classroom. The May 2024 writeup additionally identifies augmented reality and virtual reality among the programme’s technology themes.
Scheduled experience-centre demonstrations include an Industrial Command & Control Center and scalable, flexible manufacturing technologies. Independent Cart Technology appears in several schedules and is also named in the May 2024 writeup, alongside robotics. This module groups related demonstration themes across the editions; it does not imply that every batch included the same exhibits or a separate robotics session.
Open-floor discussion with Rockwell Automation experts and exchange of participants’ digital manufacturing experiences. The supplied schedules provide time for questions after the manufacturing sessions and for experience sharing later in the day. These discussions connect the programme themes with participants’ production, plant operations, engineering and other functional responsibilities.
Factory visits connect the technology sessions with industrial applications. Completion writeups report visits to Mother Dairy for June 2023, HT Process Controls for February 2024 and Addverb Technologies for May 2024. The July 2023 schedule lists MRL Tyres in Greater Noida, while the August 2023 agenda lists the Hero MotoCorp Gurgaon plant and demonstrations of smart manufacturing practices. Factory destinations remain unconfirmed in the September 2023 Batch 5 and September 2024 schedules. These scheduled visits are distinguished from visits documented in completion writeups.
Visit to the Foundation for Smart Manufacturing (FSM) lab at IIT Delhi for exposure to smart manufacturing research and demonstrations. The completion writeups describe practical exposure to technologies being developed at FSM. The supplied schedules typically allocate 14:00–16:00 for the lab tour and name Prof. Sunil Jha; several 2023 schedules also list Mr. Anup Wadhwa. Specific demonstrations and hosts may vary by batch.
The two-day structure is consistent across all batches, with variations in the specific factory visits and demonstrations. The programme combines classroom sessions, technology demonstrations, factory visits and exposure to the Foundation for Smart Manufacturing (FSM) at IIT Delhi.
Issued on successful completion of Training Programme on Industry 4.0 — Delhi NCR.
Recognised by CII Smart Manufacturing ecosystem partners.
The programme brought manufacturing professionals together to examine automation and digital transformation through expert sessions and practical exposure. The available completion writeups for June 2023, February 2024 and May 2024 describe experience-centre learning, virtual factory exposure and visits to FSM at IIT Delhi. The February and May 2024 writeups name 22 participating companies in total; this is a documented company count for those two batches, not a count of participants or of all organisations across the series. Schedules for the other documented batches add details of digital engineering, VR, asset management, cybersecurity and industrial command-and-control demonstrations.
